The Clinical Supervisor position supports an expansion of PACT services and a team that will support Calgary Police Services out of the Arrest Processing Unit. The Clinical Supervisor position will also provide coverage for other Clinical Supervisors under this portfolio including PACT-CTO, PACT-Crisis, UMHO and MRT. This is a leadership position that works collaboratively with the Manager to promote clinical development and education within the program. The Supervisor provides leadership in planning, coordination, implementation, and evaluation of continuing professional development activities for the clinical staff in the Community Crisis teams, including orientation, educational programs, clinical development and continuing education. The clinical supervisor provides individual clinical supervision of staff, promotes best practices and standards established by the relevant professional associations, ensures compliance with AHS and A&MH policies and protocols, facilitates and supervises clinical consultation groups for staff, and promotes the translation of related research/evaluation and standards/guidelines into the program. The supervisor facilitates the triage of referrals to our D-PACT teams. The clinical supervisor actively participates in planning and development of these programs. This includes the ongoing support with our Calgary Police Service partnership and other AHS and non-AHS service providers. This position involves supporting staff working within the justice system in partnership with CPS within the context of an MOU and Information Sharing Agreement. This position has transitioned to Recovery Alberta effective September 1, 2024. DescriptionAs a Clinical Supervisor, you will provide clinical supervision for a discipline, practice area or service sector supporting clinicians to provide excellence in professional practice and enable quality, patient and family-centered care. In this clinical leadership role, you will provide clinical supervision to staff providing addiction and/or mental health services to individuals, families, and groups. This role involves supervision related to a range of assessment, mental health (psychosocial and psychological interventions), and other activities. You will be required to supervise regulated staff requiring supervision to meet the regulatory requirements for practice, and/or to unregulated staff providing the restricted activity of psychosocial intervention. This may include observing clinical sessions, reviewing clinical documentation and written reports, conducting team case consultations and offering support, and providing guidance and direction to clinical staff with challenging and urgent cases in a timely manner. In your role, you may work with members of the interdisciplinary team, psychiatrists and community partners in support of effective professional and collaborative practice. You may contribute to the planning, implementation and evaluation of mental health treatment services in a hospital setting or community. You may also identify and address gaps in clinical practice as well as facilitate addressing of system level gaps and risk management issues. You may provide support to leadership in the hiring, orientation and performance evaluation of clinical staff.

Master's Degree in Psychology or Social Work. Active or eligible for full registration (not provisional) with College of Alberta Psychologists (CAP) or the Alberta College of Social Work (ACSW). A minimum of 5 years' experience in providing mental health assessment and intervention, including restricted activity of psychosocial intervention.
Additional Required QualificationsMinimum of 10 years advanced clinical experience. Minimum 5 years within the past 7 years, experience in conducting psychiatric and psychosocial assessments, treatment planning, crisis intervention. Knowledge of mental health/mental illness across all populations and the continuum of care. Effective problem solving skills and clinical judgement. Leadership and facilitation abilities. Recent experience working in an outreach capacity and with the justice system, forensic population or supporting these teams. Knowledge of relevant resources and research-based best practices for severe and persistent mental illness. Minimum 3 years’ experience providing dynamic supervision/mentorship, demonstrating innovative clinical leadership in a multidisciplinary team environment. Clinical skills necessary to support and supervise advanced practitioners. Recent and relevant experience in change initiatives, program development, evaluation, and quality improvement. Experience in working in partnership with AHS and community stakeholders including emergency services. Demonstrates patient and family centered care principles. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to maintain collaborative working relationships. Time management skills, a demonstrated ability to function effectively within a dynamic environment. Demonstrated problem solving, critical thinking, conflict resolution skills and ability to be self-directed.
Preferred QualificationsKnowledge and clinical experience with Trauma Informed Care. Demonstrated knowledge of the Adult Guardianship and Trustee Act, Protection for Persons in Care Act and other governing standards/legislation for practice. Demonstrated experience with the development of education material and staff training.
