Our Challenge Our client is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to lead the design, development, and optimization of a modern, enterprise-scale data platform built on Azure. The role focuses on delivering scalable, secure, and efficient data solutions that support AI workloads, analytics, and cross-departmental data sharing, ensuring alignment with organizational strategies. Responsibilities: Architect, develop, and maintain scalable, secure data pipelines and data lakes using Azure services such as Databricks, Data Factory, and Delta Lake. Lead end-to-end implementation of data ingestion, transformation, validation, and error handling workflows optimized for production workloads. Design and implement enterprise data platform architectures, including compute models, security, identity management, and network configurations. Manage Medallion architecture, DataOps practices, schema evolution, and data quality frameworks while ensuring governance and compliance. Collaborate with Cloud Engineering, Security, and Infrastructure teams to deliver solutions aligned with organizational standards. Guide the team in deploying best practices for cost governance, scalability, and performance tuning across Azure environments. Work directly with senior leadership and stakeholders to validate architecture decisions, propose roadmap strategies, and align project outcomes with organizational goals. Develop technical documentation, solution diagrams, and governance policies; support solution deployment and production monitoring. Introduce AI-assisted automation, anomaly detection, and lineage management into data workflows to accelerate data engineering and analytics. Mentor data engineering teams, review solutions, and establish standards for scalable, high-quality implementation. Work Experience: 4+ years of hands-on experience managing Azure Data Factory, Databricks, Delta Lake, and related cloud services—covering ingestion, transformation, validation, and performance optimization. 5+ years designing and supporting enterprise data platform architectures, including compute models and integration patterns. 4+ years working with Medallion architecture, data governance, data quality, and security frameworks in production-grade environments. 10+ years collaborating with senior leadership, shaping data strategies, validating architecture decisions, and managing large enterprise solutions. 5+ years of experience integrating enterprise platforms like ServiceNow and Talend with data pipelines for operational workflows. 5+ years mentoring data engineering teams, promoting best practices, and enabling scalable solution delivery. Nice to Have: 10+ years of experience working directly with business or government clients, effectively communicating complex data concepts. 2+ years of experience designing enterprise geospatial solutions, integrating spatial data into platforms. 2+ years working with GitHub for version control and leveraging AI tools like GitHub Copilot to enhance development. 1+ years applying AI/ML techniques to data engineering for anomaly detection, predictive analytics, or automation. 2+ years experience supporting business intelligence, dashboards, and analytical reporting tools. 2+ years working with Esri ArcGIS Enterprise, supporting spatial analytics. 2+ years integrating data platforms with ServiceNow Enterprise Service Management (ESM). 5+ years working with environmental datasets (air, water, land) within data platforms. 8+ years of experience applying data modeling concepts such as dimensional, semantic, and entity modeling to support analytics and reporting.
