You have excellent written and oral communications skills and are passionate about partnering with Indigenous communities and organizations to support their vision for the future.The Director, Economic Development, Lands and Infrastructure is a point of contact with specific clients and will coordinate or manage project resources across the practice area and the company. You will be responsible for helping to build Castlemain’s consulting services across a range of governance and policy issues.Responsibilities:Provide strategic advice and counsel to the strategy design for smaller projectsLead the development of economic development strategies for large complex projectsLead team of project area leads to deliver client objectivesIdentify and mitigate risks, challenges, and issuesDeliver complex and escalated facilitation; coach and mentor engagement team membersAble to design, facilitate and develop a C + E strategy and program for a large project or organizational strategic plan developmentAble to strategically assess potential risks and opportunities associated with projects, changing external (political, social, and economic) environments and develop recommendations to mitigate risk and/or harness opportunities for the benefit of the clientAble to adapt PE approach and tactics in response to unforeseen circumstances, including in real timeProvide quality assurance for written project and business development materialsDemonstrate impeccable editing skills and ability to oversee writing projects of Interns, Account Coordinators, Associate Consultants, Consultants, and Senior ConsultantsTranslate client or senior feedback into direction for Consultants and Senior Consultants to executeProduce quality written work in a short amount of time with few errorsServe as the last line of editing and revision before a deliverable is sent to the clientAdvise on coding frameworksProvide oversight and direction on research and analysis to be conductedManage the full program or project and all the resources and parameters involvedManage internal implementation of project effectively from launch through executionEconomic Development Responsibilities:Provide expert advice to the Vice President during the development of project proposals and work plansOrganize and oversee all aspects of economic development, lands and infrastructure projectsLiaise with Indigenous leadership, economic development entities, and partners to identify opportunities, develop appropriate plans, and implement projects to support the economic developments, land, and infrastructure goals of clientsBuild strong and effective working relationships with project partners and stakeholdersMaintain and grow expertise in economic development, lands, and infrastructure projectsContribute leadership, knowledge, and expertise to projects led by other team membersUse best practices, manage, and mentor junior project staff ensuring quality work with internal capacity buildingQualifications:Post-secondary education in a relevant field, such as Political Science, Public Administration, Indigenous Studies, Sociology, Economics, Law, or a related field10+ years of professional experience in a Governance and Policy or related role5+ years of project management or management experienceExperience working with Indigenous communities or an in-depth knowledge of Indigenous governance and community development through learned experience (3 years preferred)Demonstrated knowledge and interest in Indigenous issues in BC and Canada, including Indigenous governance and community developmentDemonstrated knowledge of the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples, the Truth and Reconciliation Commission Calls to ActionNice to have: Experience as a consultant, or within a consulting practice, would be considered an asset.Work conditions:Use of desktop computer and peripheralsWe employ a hybrid work model with the expectations that individuals attend their closest office if they are within a 45 km radius 3 days per week.
