We are looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer to join our Pursuits team The role supports and leads the integrated pursuits process with a mechanical focus. It's a team-oriented effort working with multi-discipline groups in both estimation and operations, managing the schedule, and meeting key deadlines. As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will be:

Supporting and occasionally leading specific Alternate Financing & Procurement (AFP) Integrated Pursuits with a mechanical focus.
Reading and clearly understanding an issued Statement of Requirements; reviewing, understanding and interpreting job specifications and drawings, and following through with the estimating process to develop and assist in competitive pricing.
Effectively communicating with stakeholders to gather information, clarify specifications, wording, etc., and participating in meetings and presentations with clients and partners.
Working with design teams to ensure the design matches the prescription, focused on an efficient design with cost control at the forefront.
Working in conjunction with our consultants to complete system layouts to assist with the estimating process.
Assisting in producing material and labour take-off through estimating software to develop accurate quotations.
Coordinating with sub-contractors and suppliers to obtain pricing to include within the final quotation provided to the client.
Coordinating system installation requirements with other design disciplines where required.
Assisting in researching new systems, resources, analytical processes, procedures, and working practices to identify and implement changes to increase efficiency, productivity, and overall profitability, while remaining up to date with current techniques, codes, standards, and developments to sustain and improve technical skills.
Participating in closing the bid including bid review meetings.
Participating in handover meetings with the Project Management team after award.

Our ideal candidate has:

Minimum five (5) years of Engineering experience within the Mechanical Consultant or Construction industry focused on mechanical building systems (i.e. HVAC, Hydronic, Plumbing, Refrigeration, Fire Protection).
Experience in ICI Design Build / P3 project delivery is strongly preferred. Building projects within the healthcare, government, office, or hospitality sectors is an asset.
Working knowledge and understanding of all relevant building codes and standards (i.e. ASHRAE, OBC, NBC, NFPA, CSA).
Proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with Accubid Pro and/or Enterprise is a definite asset.
Ability to travel – i.e. able to attend meetings at Architects and Consultants.
Working knowledge of AutoCAD and NMS specifications is an asset.
Professional Engineer, Licensed in the Province of Ontario or Ingénieur, Licensed in the Province of Québec, is considered an asset.
