At an exciting time in CIPH’s evolution, we seek a strategic and relationship-focused leader for the newly created role of Director of Advocacy. This position reflects our transformation from a primarily codes-and-standards organization to a leading voice on critical issues including climate action, decarbonization, regulatory compliance, and trade policy. Reporting directly to the CEO, the Director of Advocacy will build core advocacy competency within our organization and lead a team of two direct reports. This is an exceptional opportunity to shape public policy affecting a multi-billion-dollar industry and position CIPH as a thought leader in government relations. As the ideal Director of Advocacy candidate, you are a natural relationship builder with exceptional communication skills and a passion for meaningful advocacy. monitor policy developments and represent CIPH at parliamentary committees, regulatory consultations, and stakeholder forums; and collaborate closely with member company regulatory specialists, external consultants, and relationships with code-setting bodies and industry partners. You will draw upon your diplomatic judgment and political acumen to navigate complex member dynamics on contentious policy issues, while demonstrating the professionalism and attention to detail essential in a membership-driven organization. 5+ years of professional experience in stakeholder relations, government relations, regulatory affairs, or public policy ~ Demonstrated track record building and maintaining relationships with government officials, regulatory bodies, and diverse stakeholders ~ Bachelor’s degree in Political Science, Public Policy, Public Administration, Business, or related field (Master’s preferred) ~ Strong understanding of Canadian government structures, policy-making processes, and regulatory frameworks ~ Excellent communication abilities and strategic mindset to transition from reactive to proactive advocacy ~ Experience in membership-driven organizations or trade associations is preferred, as is familiarity with codes and standards bodies, building industry or construction trades, climate policy and decarbonization frameworks, and trade policy. Bilingual capacity (English/French) is an asset. The role involves domestic travel approximately 10-15% of time (1-2 trips per month). Relevant directement du chef de la direction, la directrice ou le directeur, Défense des intérêts bâtira une compétence fondamentale en matière de défense des intérêts au sein de notre organisation et dirigera une équipe de deux subordonnés directs. En tant que personne candidate idéale pour le poste de directrice ou directeur, Défense des intérêts, vous êtes quelqu’un de naturellement doué pour bâtir des relations et avez des aptitudes exceptionnelles pour la communication, en plus de vous passionner pour le plaidoyer significatif. Baccalauréat en sciences politiques, en politiques publiques, en administration publique, en affaires ou dans un domaine connexe (maîtrise privilégiée); Une expérience des organisations ou des associations commerciales axées sur les membres est privilégiée, tout comme la connaissance des organes qui établissent les codes et les normes, de l’industrie du bâtiment ou des métiers de la construction, des cadres qui régissent les politiques climatiques et la décarbonisation, et de la politique commerciale. Le bilinguisme (français-anglais) est un atout. Le rôle comprend des déplacements au pays environ 10 à 15 % du temps (un ou deux voyages par mois).
