Job Title: Part-Time Cook Location: Normandy Retirement Living Position Type: Part – Time Permanent Shift: Varies Reports To: Food Service Supervisor/Dietary Supervisor About Us: Normandy Retirement Living is a warm, welcoming senior living community dedicated to providing residents with exceptional care, comfort, and a sense of home. Our culinary team plays a vital role in enhancing the lives of our residents by preparing nutritious, delicious meals in a friendly and supportive environment. Position Summary: We are seeking a dedicated and reliable Cook to join our culinary team. The ideal candidate will have experience in food preparation and cooking in a healthcare, hospitality, or senior living environment and a passion for serving others.
You'll be responsible for preparing meals in accordance with dietary guidelines and resident preferences, maintaining a clean and safe kitchen, and contributing to a positive dining experience.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare and cook meals according to standardized recipes and menus Ensure meals meet nutritional standards and any special dietary needs Maintain cleanliness and organization in the kitchen, including equipment and food storage areas Follow proper food handling, sanitation, and safety procedures Assist in receiving, rotating, and storing food supplies Communicate effectively with the dining team and support a collaborative kitchen environment Provide courteous and respectful service to residents and staff Participate in menu planning and kitchen operations improvements as needed Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent preferred 2+ years of cooking experience, preferably in senior living, healthcare, or hospitality Knowledge of special diets (e.g., low-sodium, diabetic) a plus Ability to work independently and as part of a team Food Handlers certification or ability to obtain within 90 days of hire Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs What We Offer: Competitive pay and great hours Time off and holiday pay A supportive, team-oriented work environment Opportunities for advancement and professional development A chance to make a meaningful difference in the lives of seniors Job Type: Part-time Pay: $18.50-$22.00 per hour Benefits: Dental care Employee assistance program Extended health care Life insurance Experience: Batch Cooking: 2 years (required) Licence/Certification: Food Safe, SafeCheck, Food Handler or equivalent (required) Work Location: In person
