Job Description:

Our client is established in the manufacturing and retail space and looking for a Corporate Tax Manager to join their team. As a corporate tax leader, you will oversee tax compliance across all legal entities. Key responsibilities include preparing and reviewing tax filings, managing instalments, and developing tax provisions. You’ll also conduct technical research, identify planning opportunities, liaise with tax authorities and consultants, and ensure compliance with evolving legislation. This role suits a proactive professional who excels in solving complex tax challenges and thrives in a collaborative, high-impact environment.

Responsibilities of The Corporate Tax Manager include but not limited to:

Tax Compliance Oversight : Lead the preparation and review of corporate income tax returns and other required filings, ensuring accuracy and compliance with all regulatory requirements. Tax Provisioning : Develop and review quarterly and year-end tax provisions, collaborating with internal teams to deliver timely and precise financial reporting. Tax Payment Management : Oversee the calculation and scheduling of instalment payments and final tax payment estimates to optimize cash flow and minimize risk. Technical Research and Analysis : Conduct in-depth research on complex tax planning and compliance issues, including excise tax matters, interpreting regulations to provide actionable insights and guidance. Innovative Problem-Solving : Develop creative and effective solutions to tax-related challenges, aligning recommendations with the organization’s strategic objectives. Tax Planning Opportunities : Identify and implement strategic tax planning initiatives that maximize efficiencies and support long-term organizational goals. Mergers and Acquisitions Support : Provide critical tax expertise in merger and acquisition activities, from due diligence through integration phases. Stakeholder Collaboration : Act as a key point of contact, liaising with tax authorities and external advisors to ensure smooth communication and resolution of issues. Legislative Updates and Impact Analysis : Stay ahead of new legislation, case law, and technical interpretations, analyzing and communicating their impact to key stakeholders and implementing necessary adjustments.

Job Requirements:

5+ years of tax experience gained at a Big 4 or mid-sized public accounting firm at a senior or manager level. Corporate tax experience in a related sector such as retail is also highly valued. Experience with international tax is considered an asset. Completion of CICA in-depth tax course. Strong technical base with broad tax skills, excellent interpersonal communication skills, well organized and has ability to recognize and solve problems.
