Assistant Project Manager
Our client is an owner, manager and developer of well-located retail and commercial real estate across Canada. Their portfolio consists of over 700 properties primarily focused on supermarket-anchored shopping centres and stand-alone supermarkets. Join them in Calgary as Assistant Project and Tenant Manager.
Your New Employer
Your new employer’s strategy is to create value by enhancing and optimizing its portfolio through accretive acquisitions, strategic development and active property management. Their principal tenant is one of Canada's largest retailers. This strong alliance positions them well for future growth.
A commitment to continuous learning and development is a strong part of their culture.
Your New Role
Reporting to the Senior Project Manager, Retail Construction, the Assistant Project and Tenant Manager involves managing your projects, as well as working collaboratively on other initiatives. You’ll be based in their Calgary office, with travel across Western Canada up to 30%.
Key responsibilities include managing the renovation of existing retail properties and overseeing smaller-scale construction projects for stand-alone retail buildings. You will be responsible for coordinating project budgets, schedules, and timelines, ensuring deliverables are achieved within agreed parameters.
Regularly reviewing project plans, submitting status reports, and resolving any issues with internal teams are critical to maintaining project progress.
You will also collaborate with tenants, ensuring their plans are aligned and coordinating utilities and other service installations. Finally, you will handle the project closeout process, overseeing documentation, tenant possession, inspections, and utility coordination.
What Sets You Apart
Candidates should possess a minimum of 3 years of working experience, coupled with a post-secondary degree or education in a construction, architectural, or engineering-related field. Knowledge of building systems, building codes, and construction procedures is essential, along with proficiency in project management tools and methodologies.
Successful candidates will bring strong communication and collaboration skills, a positive attitude, and proven experience in managing timelines and budgets. The ability to thrive in a fast-paced, evolving environment is critical. Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook is required, while knowledge of JDE and AutoCAD is an asset.
What You Can Expect
Our client recognizes Canada's diversity as a source of national pride and strength. They have made it a priority to reflect our nation’s evolving diversity in the people they hire and the culture they create in their organization.
In addition, they believe that compliance with laws is about doing the right thing. Upholding the law is part of their Code of Conduct – it reinforces what their customers and stakeholders expect of them.
