We are a global community with production sites across three continents and are building a diverse and inclusive workforce.Job Title: Safety and Health SpecialistJob Summary:The Safety and Health Specialist is responsible for developing, implementing, and managing workplace health and safety programs across all operations at our Montreal site. This includes our chemical production labs, injection molding lines, warehouse and logistics areas, and material handling operations involving forklifts and DG/hazardous materials. The role ensures regulatory compliance (federal, provincial, and ISO), promotes a culture of safety, and supports continuous improvement initiatives.Key Responsibilities:Safety Program ManagementDevelop and maintain site-specific safety policies, procedures, and protocols in compliance with CNESST, WHMIS, TDG, and ISO standards.Ensure ongoing compliance with safety regulations for chemical manufacturing, hazardous materials handling, and high-risk equipment (e.g., injection molding machines, forklifts).Conduct hazard assessments, job safety analyses (JSAs), and implement control measures.Lead regular safety inspections, risk audits, and emergency preparedness drills.Manage the company’s Dangerous Goods classification, labeling, and transportation processes.Incident Prevention & InvestigationAct as lead investigator for all incidents, near misses, and injuries; track corrective actions and lessons learned.Maintain and analyze safety data to identify trends and improvement opportunities.Monitor and document PPE usage, safety signage, lockout/tagout (LOTO), and confined space procedures.Training & CommunicationCoordinate safety training programs (new hire orientation, WHMIS, TDG, forklift certification, chemical hygiene, etc.).Serve as a resource for site leadership and employees on health and safety concerns.Promote a strong safety culture through visible leadership and cross-functional engagement.Regulatory & ISO ComplianceEnsure alignment with ISO 9001/17025 standards and internal audit requirements.Coordinate external safety audits, certifications, and regulatory inspections.Keep up to date with evolving regulations from Transport Canada, ECCC, CNESST, and other authorities.Required QualificationsEducation: Diploma or Degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Industrial Hygiene, or related field.Certifications (preferred):ASP or CRSP designationTDG CertificationWHMIS Trainer certificationForklift safety instructor qualificationISO internal auditor trainingExperience:Minimum 3 years in a similar safety role within chemical manufacturing, injection molding, and/or warehousing environments.Proven experience handling Dangerous Goods and hazardous chemicals.Working knowledge of forklift operations, material handling best practices, and warehouse safety.Key SkillsStrong knowledge of Canadian OHS regulations (CNESST, WHMIS, TDG, etc.)Familiarity with ISO 9001 / ISO 17025 complianceIncident investigation and root cause analysis (RCA) methodsExcellent communication and training skillsAnalytical, organized, and proactive problem-solving mindsetAbility to influence safety behavior at all organizational levelsBilingualism (English/French) is mandatoryFrench VersionTitre du poste : Spécialiste en santé et sécuritéLe/la Spécialiste en santé et sécurité est responsable de l’élaboration, de la mise en œuvre et du maintien des programmes de santé et sécurité au travail pour l’ensemble du site de Montréal.
