Job Summary
The Director, Human Resources will plan, lead, direct, develop, and coordinate the policies, activities, and team members of the Human Resource (HR) department, ensuring legal compliance and implementation of the organization’s mission and talent strategy.
Reporting to CEO/Managing Director
Collaborates with senior leadership and global headquarters to understand and implement the organization’s goals and strategy related to people, culture & internal communications
Drives the administration of human resource programs including, but not limited to, total compensation, payroll, performance and talent management, productivity, recognition, occupational health and safety and training and development.
Monitors and ensures the organization’s compliance with federal, provincial, and local employment laws and regulations,and recommended best practices; reviews and modifies policies and practices to maintain compliance.
Essential Skills/Knowledge
Thorough knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations across Canada.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information in a clear and engaging manner, asset when able to do so in English and French.
Highly organized and articulate, with impeccable attention to detail and a focus on anticipating stakeholders’ needs.
Demonstrated ability to negotiate, leverage opportunities and stay up to date on market and industry trends
Strong presentation skills and the ability to communicate with professionals at all levels within the organization
Excellent attention to detail, strong organizational and multitasking skills with the ability to problem-solve
Ability to think critically, effectively prioritize and manage time, tasks and resources
A strategic and growth mindset focused on initiating new ideas to elevate our team experiences and culture
Skill/tact in dealing with people at all levels of the organization while managing competing priorities

Core Functions
Effectively and efficiently collaborates confidently with leaders at different levels of the organization, locally and globally
Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law; applies this knowledge to communicate changes in policy, practice, and resources to the organization
Identifies staffing and recruiting needs; develops and executesbest practices for hiring and talent management
Development and delivery of cross-functional internal communications strategies, tools and materials that support the goals and objectives of the company
Plans, leads, develops, coordinates, and implements policies,processes, training, initiatives, and surveys to support the organization’s human resource compliance and strategy needs.
Recruits, interviews, hires, and trains new team members in the department and at senior organizational levels
Develops and implements personnel budget
Oversees the daily workflow and develops the skills of the HR, Training and Health & Safety team
Supervises discipline and termination of employees inaccordance with company policy
To perform duties as prescribed in the Occupational Health andSafety Act
Performs other duties as required
Education/Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field required; Master’s degree preferred
At least five years of human resource leadership experience required
Bilingualism an asset (English and French)
