Job Summary

The Faculty of Applied Science at The University of British Columbia is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated EDI.I Coordinator to support the Indigenous and Equity Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) portfolio. This role will play a critical part in developing, implementing, and managing programs and initiatives to promote EDI goals within the Faculty and University.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and lead projects, including services, award programs, and initiatives to further EDI team goals and engagement targets.
  • Lead the Awards portfolio and other equity deserving student impacting initiatives.
  • Manage data for EDI initiatives, developing data strategies to measure program reach and impact, and identifying areas for improvement.
  • Prepare internal and external reports on strategic university frameworks and plan implementation.
  • Analyze projects throughout the lifecycle, anticipating and mitigating potential risks, and providing advice on issue resolution to ensure targets are met.
  • Identify or develop resources, systems, policies, and procedures required to implement projects/initiatives and increase community and stakeholder engagement.
  • Collect and report strategic data to inform program development and delivery, including conducting and reviewing research, developing procedures, defining goals and metrics, compiling reports, and tracking progress.
  • Write and edit grant/award applications for various funding agencies, and develop Faculty-wide metrics, data collection, and interpretation methods to inform the Senior Manager and Associate Dean on the EDI.I environment and impact of strategic programs.
  • Deliver identified EDI.I planned programs, services, and activities, including negotiating with external vendors and engaging with speakers to promote EDI.I strategic initiatives.
Training and Engagement
  • Collaborate with the Senior Manager and Associate Dean to create, deliver, and facilitate EDI.I training and educational opportunities for faculty, staff, and students in Applied Science.
  • Work with the Senior Manager to develop and implement the EDI.I training program for staff, and manage that program in collaboration with the Associate Dean and APSC HR team.
  • Create and write content for the EDI.I website and educational events, write EDI.I blog posts and news stories, and assist with marketing and communication assets.
  • Support the Faculty and other key stakeholders in developing strategic and collaborative relationships with key individuals, organizations, and community partners.
Portfolio Administration
  • Participate in financial planning and manage the team budget and expenditures, including monthly reconciliation of finances.
  • Develop processes and systems to support programs and initiatives, ensuring results, mitigating risks, and fostering operational efficiency.
  • Participate in the planning, recruitment, and development of student employees to support the team in program delivery.
  • Perform other duties as required.

This role provides critical support to the EDI.I team in the Faculty of Applied Science. Embedding appropriate EDI.I culture is essential to the strategic aims of the Faculty and University. Errors in judgment or an error of commission or omission may seriously impact the image and reputation of the Faculty, its departments and schools, and the University. Project/program management is integral to the role, delays may result in loss of opportunity, funding, or stature.
