The Mechanical Design Engineer will spearhead NordSpace's efforts to bring cutting-edge designs and ideas from its divisions to life, from conceptualization to testing and manufacturing. In-house manufacturing and vertical integration are core tenets of NordSpace's culture and philosophy, with a focus on investing in state-of-the-art equipment like robotic welders, metal additive manufacturing machines, clean rooms, CNC plasma cutters, and composite ovens.

You should be a master 'maker' and 'hacker', capable of building anything with any materials. If you weren't working at NordSpace, you'd likely be collaborating with The Hacksmith on innovative projects like the Iron Man suit or lightsaber. If the prospect of designing and building robots, rockets, and other advanced machinery excites you, combined with the freedom to build NordSpace's first rocket factory equipped with the latest gadgets and tools, this role may be your dream come true.

Key qualifications for this position include:

  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in mechanical system design, testing, and manufacturing
  • A Bachelor's degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering or a related field
  • Significant experience designing and building mechanical systems, ideally with a portfolio of personal projects and demonstrated CAD expertise
  • Extensive knowledge of fabricating mechanical systems using machining tools such as lathes, mills, CNCs, 3D printers, and welders, as well as materials like metal tubes and sheets, carbon fiber, and plastics
  • A deep passion for the space industry and significant knowledge of its current trends and challenges
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to conduct independent research
  • Effective project management skills

Estimated salary: $85,000 - $115,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications.
