IT Risk and Compliance Specialist

Position Summary: As an IT Governance, Risk, and Compliance Specialist, you will leverage your expertise in IT risk management and compliance to develop and enforce policies and standards, oversee control assurance activities, assist with IT audits, assess and enhance IT controls, conduct security and risk evaluations, and provide strategic insights to both IT and business stakeholders. Additionally, you will play a key role in managing governance, risk, and compliance tools, as well as the vendor risk management program.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the IT Governance, Risk, and Compliance program and the global Information Security Management System (ISMS) for a diverse range of applications, ensuring sustainable compliance practices throughout the organization.
- Evaluate and monitor adherence to the company's IT controls, policies, and standards, conducting gap assessments as necessary. Maintain a common controls framework and define control applicability for various compliance initiatives.
- Facilitate and coordinate internal and external assessments, audits, and certifications, including vendor assessments, IT General Controls (ITGC) audits, and ISO 27001 certification, managing evidence collection and responses to identified findings.
- Drive the vendor and partner security risk assessment program utilizing the organization's third-party risk assessment tool and support the vendor due diligence process.
- Assist in the implementation and ongoing management of an enterprise IT Governance, Risk, and Compliance solution to enhance risk management and reporting capabilities.
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of the global risk register, supporting risk treatment planning, monitoring, and reporting processes.
- Deploy a standardized playbook for integrating newly acquired companies into the ISMS.
- Collaborate with the Legal department to incorporate new requirements arising from applicable legal and regulatory changes.
- Engage with global IT and business partners to provide guidance and support.
- Document and report control deficiencies and gaps to stakeholders, offering remediation guidance and tracking remediation activities.
- Evaluate and report any security or compliance risks to be included in the company risk register, consulting on the development of security standards, procedures, and controls to manage risks effectively.
Qualifications:
- A degree or diploma in Computer Science, Cyber Security, or a related field.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in information security management, compliance principles, IT standards, controls, and auditing.
- Proficiency in control analysis, risk analysis, process assessment, consulting, data analysis, and vendor management.
- Understanding of fundamental information security concepts and technologies.
- Strong analytical and critical thinking abilities.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the capacity to convey technical concepts to a diverse audience.
- Ability to collaborate with multiple internal and external stakeholders in a dynamic, fast-paced global environment.
Preferred Skills:
- Professional certification or progress towards certification in areas such as CRISC, CISSP, or CISA.
- Familiarity with NIST, Cyber Essentials, and other security frameworks and standards.
- Experience in the financial services sector or other highly regulated industries.
- Strong technical skills in SharePoint and workflow processes.
- Knowledge of legislative and regulatory compliance requirements, such as GDPR.
- Experience with Governance, Risk, and Compliance platforms.
- Ability to communicate in multiple languages is a plus.
