Commercial Equipment Engineer

A challenging role is available for an experienced Equipment Engineer to join our team at Bronswerk Marin, a global leader in naval, military and marine HVAC-R systems & equipment.
About the RoleWe are seeking a highly skilled engineer to lead the execution of equipment design projects through their full lifecycle. The successful candidate will actively contribute to the development of effective HVAC-R solutions for various marine projects, supporting the team in resolving client technical issues and concerns.
Key Responsibilities- Design and selection of specialized components: Design and select refrigeration, cooling, heating, or ventilation components required for military and commercial applications.
- Selection of refrigeration system components: Select refrigeration system components, ensuring they meet specific requirements.
- Equipment performance calculations: Perform calculations (or support calculations) of equipment performance characteristics, resilience to shock and vibrations, structural strength, center of gravity, cooling and heating capacities, pressure drops, heat loads, and other client-driven requirements.
- Documentation preparation: Work with mechanical designers to prepare final drawings, Bill of Materials for procurement, Technical Specifications Data Sheets, P&IDs, Single line and double line diagrams, and all supporting documentation required in the contract.
- Configuration control: Conduct configuration control on Engineering documents.
- System control philosophies: Develop refrigeration system control philosophies.
- Test procedures design: Design test procedures to validate the efficacy of equipment, including procedures to meet Military Specifications.
- Prototype development and testing: Oversee the development and testing of the equipment and/or prototype.
- Commissioning and inspections: May be called to support Start up / Commissioning of the HVAC and Refrigeration systems or perform onboard inspections and audits.
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering: A Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering is required.
- Refrigeration system design experience: Experience and knowledge in refrigeration system design are essential.
- Design experience: Experience in design of refrigeration equipment such as water-cooled condensing units, unit coolers, chilled water plants, cold and cool refrigerated store rooms.
- Pipe sizing and routing: Experience in refrigeration pipe sizing and routing.
- Design skills: Excellent 2D and 3D design skills.
- Software proficiency: Familiarity with AutoCAD and Inventor or SolidWorks.
- Language skills: Bilingual English and French.
