We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Building Inspector to join our team at the City of Richmond Hill. This is an exciting opportunity for a professional with experience in building inspections, code enforcement, and leadership.

About the Role

  • This is a permanent full-time position that requires a strong understanding of the Ontario Building Code (OBC) and relevant laws.
  • You will be responsible for performing site inspections to ensure compliance with the OBC and enforcing related laws.
  • Key duties include attending sites, performing inspections, issuing occupancy certificates, initiating legal proceedings, and providing input on departmental policies and systems.

About the Team

The Building Division is a key part of the Planning and Building Services Department at the City of Richmond Hill. Our team is dedicated to ensuring public safety and health through effective building inspections and code enforcement.

About You

  • 3-year diploma in Architectural, Engineering or Construction Technology or equivalent.
  • Successful completion of provincially mandated Building Code examination in various categories.
  • Member of the Association of Architectural Technologists of Ontario (MAATO), Certified Engineering Technologist (CET), Certified Building Code Official (CBCO), Building Code Qualified (BCQ), or similar certifications.
  • 5 years of experience as a municipal building official or equivalent.
