Job Summary

Vancouver Coastal Health is seeking a Recreation Therapist to join their team in Vancouver, BC. This role involves providing Recreation Therapy services in designated programs focused on clients with rehabilitation/degenerative diseases or disabilities and/or mental health issues.

About the Role
  • Work in a team-based environment and coordinate quality improvement and risk management initiatives.
  • Provide Recreation Therapy assessments/interventions and work direction to students, staff, and volunteers.
Qualifications
  • Baccalaureate in Therapeutic Recreation or Leisure Studies from an accredited university.
  • Two years' recent experience working with the designated population group in the applicable program area/setting, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Eligible for certification and CTRS credential with the National Council for Therapeutic Recreation Certification (NCTRC).
Responsibilities
  • Comprehensive knowledge of evidence-based Recreation Therapy practice related to applicable program health issues and treatment.
  • Knowledge of theories and concepts of therapeutic recreation, leisure, social psychology, and current trends and practice in designated areas.
  • Organizing therapeutic recreation services including development of a written plan or operation.
