Job Description

Pomerleau is seeking an experienced Legal Counsel to join our operational support team in a pivotal role, providing strategic legal counsel in corporate and commercial law.

As a key member of our team, you will play a crucial part in the future success of the business by supporting large-scale building and infrastructure projects across Canada and the United States. Your expertise will be invaluable in providing strategic legal advisory and support on day-to-day activities and operations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide strategic legal advice to executive and management teams on various matters, including procurement, environmental, employment, labour, real estate, and other areas of law.
  • Manage all aspects of active litigation, arbitration, and administrative proceedings on our behalf, including drafting pleadings, preparing document disclosure, conducting examinations, and running mediations, motions, trials, and arbitrations.
  • Assist in the preparation and implementation of corporate governance policies.
  • Collaborate with external legal counsel and coordinate their work.
Requirements:
  • Juris Doctorate or Bachelor's degree in Law.
  • Membership in the Law Society of Ontario or another common law Canadian jurisdiction.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in private practice or as in-house counsel, with expertise in construction law, commercial litigation, and/or contract disputes.
  • Excellent legal reasoning, judgment, and problem-solving skills.
