About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced HSE Coordinator to join our team at ANDRITZ Hydro Canada. As a key member of our HSE team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the health, safety, and environmental well-being of our employees, contractors, and the public.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the implementation of the HSE Management System on all projects and across all departments within the organization.
  • Collaborate with project teams to prepare weekly and monthly statistics HSE reports.
  • Provide assistance in identification of risks and definition of control measures (through safe work procedure, Job Safety Analysis).
  • Carry out and record regular safety checks and safety inspections across the project portfolio.
  • Provide assistance in preparing Weekly Safety Meetings, HSE Bulletins, Focus initiatives.
  • Support the investigation of accidents and incidents; performs Root Cause Analysis on HSE issues.
  • Provide introduction training and site-specific health, safety, and environmental training.
  • Coordinate required safety training for project sites (as applicable).
  • Prepare and coordinate emergency and rescue drills, First Aid, Confined Space, Emergency Preparedness and Fire Protection programs.
  • Propose immediate correction of a HSE deficiency; checks if HSE corrections from deficiency are effective.
  • Ensure OHSAS 18001, ISO 14001 and COR programs are maintained at site.
  • Support execution of internal audits in construction sites and facilities and coordinate external audits.
  • Coordinate with Workers Compensation as required.
  • Collaborate with Site HSE Officer as applicable.
  • Collaborate with HSE Operations Manager for business update on HSE Management System.
Requirements
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in an active HSE position.
  • University degree in Health and Safety or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of Construction Safety Regulations.
  • Experience in dealing with unionized environment.
  • Experience working on construction sites (Hydro power plant – a strong asset).
  • Strong communication skills (spoken & written) at all levels of the organization.
  • Leadership skills, Team Player following Company common Goals.
  • Proven Auditor and Trainer skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills (root cause analysis expertise), sound judgment, initiative & creativity.
  • Willingness to travel and flexible with work schedule.
