Registered Nurse

We are seeking a highly skilled Registered Nurse to join our Surgical Services team at Surrey Memorial Hospital. As a key member of our interprofessional care team, you will provide direct patient care, assess patients, and develop care plans to ensure the best possible outcomes.
Responsibilities- Assess patients and collect information from various sources to inform nursing diagnoses and develop care plans.
- Collaborate with patients, families, and caregivers to develop and implement care plans that promote person-centered care.
- Provide direct patient care, including administering medications, performing procedures, and monitoring patient responses.
- Participate in the care and discharge planning process, ensuring seamless transitions and effective communication with the interprofessional care team.
- Coordinate nursing care, prioritize tasks, and delegate responsibilities to support staff as needed.
- Perform non-invasive diagnostic tests, such as ankle-brachial indexes and transcutaneous oxygen measurement, and interpret results to inform patient care.
- Teach patients and families about illness prevention, health restoration, and health maintenance to promote self-care and independence.
- Document assessments, nursing diagnoses, interventions, and patient responses according to practice standards and Fraser Health procedures.
- Graduation from an approved School of Nursing with current practicing registration as a Registered Nurse with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).
- Ability to complete initial and ongoing patient assessment and provide nursing care through appropriate technical, therapeutic, and safety interventions.
- Ability to communicate effectively with patients, families, caregivers, and the interprofessional care team using verbal, written, and electronic communication means.
- Ability to promote person-centered care, demonstrate empathy, and advocate for patient rights and autonomy.
- Ability to integrate and evaluate data from multiple sources to problem-solve effectively and make informed decisions.
