Vancouver Coastal Health is seeking a highly skilled Tissue/Eye Bank Technologist to join their team at Vancouver General Hospital in Vancouver, BC.
Key Responsibilities- Perform a variety of duties related to the retrieval, processing, preservation, and distribution of human donor tissue.
- Process documentation for potential donors, liaise with individuals to review donor medical history, and assess tissue suitability for transplant.
- Enter data into a computerized tissue inventory system and perform routine calibration of laboratory equipment.
- Participate in hospital committees and approved research projects as assigned.
- Two years' post-secondary education in a biological science field or certification with the American Association of Tissue Banks or the Eye Bank Association of America.
- Two years' recent, related experience in a Tissue or Eye Bank or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Valid BC Driver's license and access to a vehicle.
- Eligible for certification with the American Association of Tissues Banks and/or the Eye Bank Association of America.
- Broad knowledge of theory and practice for tissue/eye culture.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and in collaboration with others.
- Demonstrated ability to deal with others effectively in a supportive and positive manner.
- Demonstrated ability to work under pressure in a constantly changing environment.
