Job Description

Octasic is a leading provider of advanced communication solutions, and we're seeking a skilled Item Master/Component Technician to join our team. As a key member of our Operations and Engineering teams, you'll play a crucial role in ensuring accurate and up-to-date records of parts, which is vital for efficient procurement, inventory management, and production processes.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Maintain the master file, establish product configurations, and ensure data integrity and accuracy in the ERP system.
  • Create new items for products, including spare parts, consumables, materials, equipment, and services in the ERP system.
  • Establish and update product information in the ERP system, collaborating with cross-functional teams.
  • Work with engineering and production teams to define and maintain accurate BOMs within the ERP system.
  • Collaborate with IT teams and ERP system administrators to identify, test, and implement system enhancements, automation, and process improvements related to item configuration.
  • Assist in migrating or transferring data to new systems as needed.
  • Manage obsolescence or unavailability of electronic components on all electronic products, in collaboration with the hardware engineer department.
  • Participate in Parts list reviews and Engineering Change Order (ECO) process.
  • Follow up on Product Change Notice (PCN), Alerts, Counterfeited components, and DMSMS received from distribution and Silicon Expert.
  • Support the PLM team in preparing obsolescence reports for management and customers.
  • Collaborate with the supply chain and engineering team to define and maintain the AVL.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, such as information systems or operations.
  • Experience in component engineering (electrical, electronic, electromechanical) is an asset.
  • Good experience with an ERP system.
  • Knowledge of Excel (intermediate to expert level).
  • Knowledge of product nomenclatures.
  • Knowledge of component control document drawing types (Spec control, Source control, Altered Item, Selected item) is an asset.
  • Knowledge of environmental regulations (RoHS, REACH) is an asset.
  • Autonomy and adaptability.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Bilingual (French and English): both spoken and written, to ensure good collaboration with our suppliers and international teams.
