About the Role:

The Engineering Manager, Microelectronics Group will lead a team of designers and technologists in the development of innovative and competitive optoelectronic and microelectronic solutions. This includes planning and execution of projects, promoting design excellence, and fostering technical and professional growth within the team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and mentor a team of designers and technologists in the development of microelectronic and optoelectronic devices and solutions.
  • Responsible for hiring, developing, and training staff to deliver required capabilities with innovative solutions.
  • Foster technical and professional growth for the design team, monitor staff performance, and provide regular feedback.
  • Promote innovation and provide input to product roadmaps, speed to market, and product lifecycle solutions.
  • Work with customers to understand applications for development of solutions.
  • General resource management, including level loading, task assignments, and addressing peaks and valleys in skills demand.
  • Identify needs and organize resource training plans to fill knowledge gaps and foster growth to keep up with market trends and technologies.
  • Partner with the Product Manager and Program Managers as the senior design expert to review and approve estimates, ensuring content is accurate, achievable within proposed budget, meets technical requirements, and is provided in a timely fashion.
  • Ensure the development team applies CMC design processes and standards in the execution of projects and recommends improvements for greater efficiency.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering and five plus years of experience in Opto and Microelectronics development for commercial and/or military applications.
  • Demonstrated strong leadership and managerial skills, ability to motivate and lead a technical staff.
  • Knowledge of Qualification and certification processes for Optoelectronics and Microelectronic applications.
  • Experience in preparation and presentation of executive-level briefings.
  • Good understanding of financial concepts, risk management, estimating concepts, and industry practices.
  • Be bilingual (oral and written French and English).
  • Be motivated and a self-starter with good communication skills and ability to complete and manage assignments with only high-level instruction.
