Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Distribution Technician to join our team at FortisBC. As a key member of our gas distribution team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe and efficient installation, operation, and maintenance of gas system assets.

Key Responsibilities
  • Complete internal training and development programs to enhance your skills and knowledge in gas system installation, operation, and maintenance.
  • Participate in field coaching and evaluation to ensure you have the necessary skills and expertise to perform Distribution Technician tasks safely and effectively.
  • Perform Distribution Technician tasks independently and as part of a crew, responding to emergencies and ensuring the safety of the public and other stakeholders.
  • Foster strong relationships with customers, colleagues, and other stakeholders, providing excellent customer service and resolving conflicts in a professional and courteous manner.
Requirements
  • Minimum of two years' relevant experience in pipe fitting and/or underground utility field work, with a strong understanding of gas installation systems and safety protocols.
  • High school graduation and a Class 5 driver's license, with a clean driving abstract.
  • Provincial Gas B ticket is an asset.
  • Demonstrated ability to learn and apply knowledge of gas installation systems, including comprehensive understanding of theory and operation of materials and equipment related to gas operations.
  • Excellent customer relations skills, with the ability to deal effectively with customers and resolve conflicts in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Emergency response skills, with the ability to remain calm and make effective decisions during emergency situations.
Working Conditions
  • This role has standby/on-call requirements based on operational needs.
  • The successful candidate must adhere to the residency requirements of this position.
  • This role has overtime requirements based on operational needs.
  • This role has travel/out of town requirements based on operational needs.
  • This position has a requirement to be clean-shaven as per WCB standards.
