As a Food Safety and Quality Assurance Specialist, you will play a crucial role in safeguarding the safety and quality of our food products. Your responsibilities will include conducting food safety and quality testing procedures, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, and supporting the implementation of our food safety plan. Your expertise in food safety and quality assurance will be essential in maintaining the highest standards for our products.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure compliance with food regulations and GFSI standards (BRC, SQF)
- Support the implementation of an effective Food Safety plan focused on eliminating biological, chemical, physical, and economically motivated hazards
- Sample, test, and document the Quality Management System (QMS) including procedures, records, GMPs, and HACCP
- Maintain the safety, legality, and quality of food products and manufacturing processes
- Reduce customer/consumer complaints for foods manufactured on site
- Authorize product holds due to food safety or quality non-conformance
- Participate in daily food evaluation to identify possible defects
- Participate in physical bakery inspections on a weekly basis
- Select food items for analysis at specified stages in the production process
- Perform pre-operational inspections and report concerns to the Supervisor
Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Food Science, Microbiology, or Human Ecology preferred
- Training in HACCP and GFSI standards (BRC, SQF) preferred
- Effective work ethic and good communication skills
- Good writing, analytical, and critical thinking skills
- Detail-oriented and strong computer skills
