About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Accountant to join our client's team in downtown Montreal. This is a permanent position in hybrid mode, with 3 days remote and 2 days on-site.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare month-end financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and statements of cash flow, for two companies.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records, including general ledgers, accounts payable, and accounts receivable.
  • Coordinate the work of an external bookkeeper and ensure timely and accurate financial reporting.
  • Reconcile accounts and analyze monthly variances to identify areas for improvement.
  • Participate in daily operational activities, including reviewing invoices for applicable sales taxes, cash application, accounts receivable follow-up, and collections.
  • Prepare US sales tax remittances by state and record COGS invoices.
  • Adjust monthly journal entries for intercompany invoicing and deferred revenue.
  • Contribute to the implementation of an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system.
  • Manage special projects, including analyzing and interpreting financial data.
  • Participate in the implementation of financial policies and procedures.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting.
  • 4 years of experience in a multi-currency, multi-company setting, ideally with a CPA designation.
  • Proficient in Sage 50 or other accounting software.
  • Strong Excel skills, including experience with pivot tables, using macros, and Access.
  • Proactive, organized, detail-oriented, and analytical.
  • Bilingual (French and English) with the ability to interact comfortably with clients and stakeholders in an international setting.
