Job Title: Financial Operations Analyst

FortisBC is seeking a highly skilled Financial Operations Analyst to join our team. As a key member of our finance department, you will be responsible for performing all general cost accounting and budgeting activities for an assigned operational group.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate and develop operational unit budgets, including assembling and analyzing historical cost and activity data, making adjustments for reasonableness, and coordinating and preparing justifications for budget items.
  • Prepare regular performance and variance reviews, including participating in the analysis of activities, unit costs, and program expenditures to explain variances and recommend remedial action.
  • Maintain a current knowledge of applicable accounting and financial systems, policies, coding, and procedures, and advise the operational group regarding their application.
  • Participate in the development of recommendations to enhance or establish financial policies and procedures, reporting forms, and formats.
  • Conduct research and special analyses related to operational unit activities, unit costs, and programs, including preparing ad-hoc reports and maintaining statistical databases and financial spreadsheets.
Requirements:
  • Completion of a Diploma in Accounting, Finance, or a related field from an accredited post-secondary institution.
  • Three (3) years directly related relevant experience.
  • Strong organizational, oral, and written communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and in teams.
  • Strong knowledge of statistical analysis, cost benefit analysis, and related analytical techniques.
