Job Title: Secretary-Treasurer/CFO

Job Summary:

The St. James-Assiniboia School Division is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Secretary-Treasurer/CFO to join their team. As a key member of the Division's leadership team, the successful candidate will be responsible for providing strategic financial leadership and advice to the Board of Trustees, Superintendent, and senior leadership team.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Develop and implement financial policies, procedures, and systems to ensure the effective management of division resources.
  2. Prepare, monitor, and report on the division's annual budget.
  3. Supervise and mentor finance and administrative staff.
  4. Liaise with external stakeholders, including government agencies, auditors, and financial institutions.
  5. Support the Board of Trustees in their governance and decision-making processes.

Requirements:

  1. A professional accounting designation (CPA) is required.
  2. A minimum of five years of senior financial management experience, preferably in the public or education sector.
  3. Demonstrated knowledge of public sector accounting principles and practices.
  4. Demonstrated expertise working with community partners, government departments, and elected Boards.
  5. Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  6. Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  7. High level of integrity and professionalism.
