About the Role:

Evertz is seeking a skilled FPGA Design Engineer to join our Markham FPGA Design team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for developing innovative video/audio processing, routing, and transportation products using advanced high-density FPGA design, 100G network transport, broadcast-quality video and audio compression technologies, and system-on-chip designs on the latest generations of FPGAs and MPSoCs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop FPGA/MPSoc-based products that meet the highest standards of quality and performance.
  • Contribute to the development of video, audio, and network processing IP cores that are scalable, efficient, and reliable.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to specify and architect systems or subsystems that meet business requirements.
  • Work closely with hardware and software engineers to test and debug designs, ensuring timely delivery and high-quality results.
  • Utilize FPGA design tools to optimize design, close timing, and improve fitting quality, ensuring that designs meet performance and power consumption targets.
  • Contribute to the innovation of FPGA development flows, identifying opportunities for process improvements and implementing changes that enhance productivity and efficiency.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related field.
  • Experience with FPGA designs in VHDL or Verilog, with a preference for VHDL.
  • Strong understanding of Static Timing Analysis and Timing Closure techniques.
  • Experience with writing test benches and simulating digital designs.
  • Experience with in-system debugging of FPGAs.
  • Proficiency in C or C++ programming languages.
  • Experience with Python, Tcl, bash, or other scripting languages.
  • Excellent revision control habits, with experience using Git or Subversion.

Bonus Requirements:

  • Knowledge of clock domain crossing techniques.
  • Experience with video or audio signal processing.
  • Knowledge of video compression and decompression methods.
  • Knowledge of protocols such as PCIe, Ethernet, AXI4, Avalon, SPI, I2C, etc.
  • Experience with High-Level Synthesis designs.
  • Experience with Linux operating system.
