About the Role:

Evertz is seeking a highly skilled FPGA Design Engineer to join our Markham FPGA Design team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for developing innovative video and audio processing, routing, and transportation products using advanced high-density FPGA design, 100G network transport, broadcast quality video and audio compression technologies, and system-on-chip designs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop FPGA/MPSoc-based products that meet the highest standards of quality and performance.
  • Contribute to the development of video, audio, and network processing IP cores that are optimized for high-speed data transfer.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and develop system or subsystem specifications and architectures that meet the needs of our customers.
  • Work closely with hardware and software engineers to test and debug designs, ensuring that they meet the required specifications and performance standards.
  • Use advanced FPGA design tools to optimize design fitting, close timing, and improve fitting quality.
  • Contribute to the development of innovative FPGA development flows that improve design productivity and quality.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related field.
  • Experience with FPGA designs in VHDL or Verilog, with a preference for VHDL.
  • Strong understanding of static timing analysis and timing closure techniques.
  • Experience with writing test benches and simulating digital designs.
  • Experience with in-system debugging of FPGAs.
  • Proficiency in C or C++ programming languages.
  • Experience with Python, Tcl, bash, or other scripting languages.
  • Excellent revision control habits, with experience using Git or Subversion.

Bonus Requirements:

  • Knowledge of clock domain crossing techniques.
  • Experience with video or audio signal processing.
  • Knowledge of video compression and decompression methods.
  • Knowledge of protocols such as PCIe, Ethernet, AXI4, Avalon, SPI, I2C, etc.
  • Experience with high-level synthesis designs.
  • Experience with Linux operating system.
