Job Summary

The Talent Acquisition Specialist plays a critical role in the development and implementation of effective recruitment and onboarding strategies and programs, promoting diversity and equity best practices. Reporting to the Director of HR, this highly knowledgeable professional will provide expertise, advice, tools, and training to management, supporting the recruitment, onboarding, and reporting functions.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Develop and execute sound recruitment and onboarding strategies and programs, promoting diversity and equity best practices.
  2. Partner with hiring managers to understand business needs and develop Talent Acquisition initiatives aligned with company strategies.
  3. Manage full-cycle recruitment, including sourcing, screening, interviewing, reference checks, creating and negotiating offer letters, onboarding, and orientation.
  4. Evaluate resumes and cover letters to identify candidates that meet requirements and possess relevant skills and experience.
  5. Conduct interviews to assess candidates' qualifications, skills, and experience, leveraging assessments and behavioral interview techniques.
  6. Keep candidates engaged and informed throughout the recruitment process to ensure a positive candidate experience.
  7. Focus on streamlining and designing progressive recruitment processes, initiatives, and policies that promote diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  8. Assist with researching competitive compensation figures and coordinating summer positions/university/college Co-Op recruitment cycles.
  9. Provide monthly, analytical recruitment reports to management, tracking and analyzing data on recruitment results, applicant time to hire, and turnover rates.

  10. Proven multitasking skills and ability to work effectively with multiple stakeholders across all levels of the company.
  11. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
  12. 5+ years of experience in a recruitment specialist role, working in a high-growth environment, including sourcing, full-cycle recruitment, and building and maintaining talent pipelines.
  13. Bachelor's degree in a relevant field; additional HR certification is an asset.
  14. Experience in recruiting for multiple locations preferred.
  15. Excellent understanding of provincial law, regulations, and best practices.
  16. Exposure to various recruitment technology tools, including applicant tracking systems, internet job boards, social media channels, etc.
  17. Experience in developing and implementing successful social media recruitment strategies.
