We are seeking dedicated individuals to fill various Security Officer positions at our sites throughout the Lower Mainland. This is an excellent opportunity for those looking to build their career in a dynamic and rewarding field.
Compensation
The starting hourly rate for this position is estimated at $18-$22, depending on the specific site or program.
Job Description
As a Security Officer with Paladin Security, your day-to-day responsibilities will include conducting regular patrols, monitoring CCTV cameras, providing first aid, managing lost & found, writing detailed incident reports, and more. You will be working in various environments, including colleges and universities, hospitals and health clinics, mobile division, office towers and government buildings, and shopping centres.
Responsibilities
- Colleges and Universities: Conduct regular foot patrols, monitor CCTV cameras, provide first aid, manage lost & found, write detailed incident reports.
- Hospitals and Health Clinics: Respond to alarms and emergency requests while utilizing de-escalation skills to ensure the safety of healthcare workers and visitors.
- Mobile Division: Swiftly respond to alarms, report security breaches and property damage, and provide leadership in emergency situations.
- Office Towers and Government Buildings: Conduct regular patrols, monitor property entrance, authorize entrance of people, secure exits, and respond to alarms.
- Shopping Centres: Perform constant patrols, interact with tenants and the public to provide direction and promote customer service, respond to emergencies, take the lead role in incidents involving violent individuals, conduct arrests, enforce mall rules, and remove vagrants from the property.
Requirements
- Excellent customer service and problem-solving skills
- Strong English communication skills, both verbal and written; you will need to write detailed incident reports which may be utilized in court
- A passion for being active, as your patrols may be indoors or outdoors, in all weather conditions, and can include stairwells, uneven surfaces, and parkades
- Physical ability to stand and/or patrol for the majority of a shift (8-hours average)
- Confidence interacting verbally with team members, client personnel, members of the public, and emergency services
- Some experience in security is an asset, but other experience in customer service or volunteering can help you succeed
- Confidence approaching and leading in emergency situations, including trauma, aggression, intoxication, bodily fluids, etc.
- A keen eye for watching and reporting irregularities, such as security breaches, facility and safety hazards, and emergency situations
- Basic skills in utilizing technology, including writing reports on a computer, tracking patrols in a smartphone, and communicating via two-way radio
Preferred Qualifications
- Occupational First Aid Level 2 (OFA2) certification
- Advanced Security Training (AST) certification
- Marine Transportation Security Clearance (MTSC) certification
- Valid Class 5 BC Driver's License
