Job Title: Licensed Practical Nurse

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join our team at The Alex, a leading provider of comprehensive health and social services in Calgary. As an LPN, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality patient care and contributing to the success of our multidisciplinary team.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct initial triage of clients to assess their clinical needs and suitability for our services.
  • Deliver direct client care and treatment according to clinical protocols and schedules.
  • Perform physical assessments, compile health history, and document surgical and medication history.
  • Treat minor wounds and administer routine medical procedures, including injections and visual acuity screening.
  • Carry out phlebotomy and collect specimens as directed by primary care practitioners.
  • Oversee the management and administration of medications in all available formats.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, including nurse practitioners, physicians, social workers, and other professionals.
  • Coordinate with MOAs, receptionists, and the administration team to support the provision of care.
Qualifications and Experience:
  • Diploma in Nursing.
  • Current registration with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses in Alberta (CLPNA).
  • Minimum of two years progressive nursing experience working with clients with mental health and addictions disorders, homelessness, and poverty.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, advocacy, teaching, and rapport-building skills.
  • Able to work collaboratively in an interdisciplinary team model and innovative outreach service delivery model.
Work Environment and Hours:
  • Standard hours 8:30 – 4:30, Monday to Friday.
  • Occasionally requires extended periods of sitting, standing, and/or walking.
  • Occasional carrying objects up or down stairwells.
