Building Maintenance Assistant

Reporting to the Facilities Manager, you'll assist with routine inspections, preventive maintenance, and minor repairs on various building systems. Your attention to detail and ability to work independently will shine through in meticulous record-keeping of building repairs and maintenance.
As a team player, you'll promptly respond to occupant requests, complaints, and suggestions, keeping everyone informed of maintenance schedules and activities. Clear communication with the Facilities Manager will be essential if there are any issues or concerns.

Key responsibilities:
- Care for our buildings: Conduct regular inspections of building systems and perform preventative maintenance tasks in a safe and efficient manner.
- Maintain a safe environment: Diagnose and address minor building issues, such as replacing light bulbs, tightening fixtures, and patching small leaks.
- Stay organized: Maintain accurate records of building repairs and maintenance, and ensure maintenance supplies and equipment are adequately stocked.
- Look out for others: Respond promptly to occupant requests, complaints, and suggestions, and communicate effectively with the Facilities Manager.
What you'll need to succeed:
- Basic vocational training and some experience in building maintenance or related tasks is preferred, but not required.
- Proficiency in using hand tools and maintenance equipment, with the ability to learn and perform basic maintenance tasks in a variety of environments and weather conditions.
- Ability to lift up to 50lbs, work in confined spaces, and perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods of time.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and thrive in a fast-paced team environment.
- Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and unexpected issues while prioritizing key tasks.
- Ability to troubleshoot and repair a variety of building systems, with a solid understanding of safety procedures and regulations.
