About the Role
As a seasoned Project Director with Bird Construction, you will be leading commercial and institutional building projects in Edmonton and surrounding areas. This is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic team and contribute to the company's growth and success.
Key Responsibilities
- Support business development by identifying new opportunities and collaborating with the marketing team to secure projects.
- Lead bid proposal responses, ensuring timely and effective communication with clients and stakeholders.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants, and trade partners to ensure successful project outcomes.
- Ensure all contract negotiations are executed in accordance with company processes and the master project schedule.
- Oversee preconstruction planning, ensuring that all activities are executed to the satisfaction of the organization and the client.
- Lead the project team to achieve project strategy, meet or exceed performance, schedule, and profitability targets.
- Monitor and control project budgets to ensure they contain or exceed expectations for profit.
- Ensure the project team operates effectively and efficiently, with a focus on achieving project goals and objectives.
- Conduct regular site visits to ensure project health, safety, and environmental standards are met or exceeded.
- Collaborate with the Construction Director to address project critical issues and ensure that the project team has followed up to address issues to the satisfaction of all stakeholders.
Requirements
- Post-secondary education in a related field, or equivalent experience.
- At least 20 years of experience in construction, with 10 years in a management leadership role in a construction company.
- Proven track record of successful commercial project management of major building construction projects exceeding $80 million.
- Strong leadership skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously and meet tight deadlines.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a focus on building and maintaining positive relationships with clients, stakeholders, and team members.
- Ability to work in a dynamic environment, with a focus on adaptability and continuous improvement.
