The Nova Scotia Health Authority is seeking a skilled Clinical Therapist to join our Adult Service team in Mental Health and Addictions. As a member of our multidisciplinary team, you will provide assessment and planning, treatment and intervention, and crisis management for clients. Your expertise will be essential in delivering high-quality care and support to individuals with mental health and addiction issues.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct comprehensive assessments and develop individualized care plans for clients
- Provide evidence-based therapies, including individual and group sessions, to support clients' recovery and well-being
- Collaborate with families and other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive care and support
- Develop and maintain relationships with community resources and programs to support clients' needs
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and contribute to the development of best practices in mental health care
- Master's degree in a clinical health-related discipline (e.g., social work, psychology, counseling, nursing, occupational therapy)
- Current registration with a relevant provincial regulatory body
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of standard criteria used for the classification and diagnosis of mental health disorders (e.g., DSM-5)
- Experience in providing individual and group evidence-informed therapies to clients with mental health and addiction issues
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse populations
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Non-violent crisis intervention and suicide risk assessment training
- Experience working with diverse populations, including Indigenous and Black/African Nova Scotian communities
- Competencies in other languages, particularly French
