About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Pharmacy Assistant to join our team at Neighbourly Pharmacy. As a Pharmacy Assistant, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality pharmaceutical services to our patients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide exceptional customer service, responding to inquiries and resolving issues in a professional manner.
  • Assist with prescription processing, including data entry, labeling, and packaging under the supervision of a pharmacist or pharmacy technician.
  • Count, measure, and package prescription medications accurately and safely, following established protocols and procedures.
  • Conduct inventory management tasks, including receiving, unpacking, and stocking incoming shipments of medications and supplies.
  • Maintain a clean and organized pharmacy area, including medication shelves, dispensing counters, and workstations.
  • Perform administrative tasks, such as filing, faxing, and scanning documents, as well as processing insurance claims and coordinating prescription transfers.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and pharmacy policies, including privacy and confidentiality requirements.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; completion of a pharmacy assistant program or relevant healthcare certification is preferred.
  • Prior experience in a retail or healthcare setting is advantageous, but not required; on-the-job training will be provided.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally with customers and colleagues.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in performing tasks, such as medication counting and labeling.
  • Effective organizational skills to manage multiple tasks and prioritize workload in a fast-paced environment.
  • Basic computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and pharmacy software systems.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with pharmacy staff and contribute to a positive team environment.

Working Conditions

  • This is a part-time position, with standard work hours typically ranging from 20-24 hours per week.
  • The position may require standing for extended periods and occasional lifting/moving of moderate-weight boxes or containers.
  • Work shifts may include evenings, weekends, and holidays, based on the operational hours of the pharmacy.
