About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Registered Practical Nurse to join our Crisis Mental Health Services team at Brightshores. As a key member of our multi-disciplinary team, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality care to individuals with mental health and addiction illnesses.

Key Responsibilities
  • Implement services that meet the unique needs of individuals with mental health and addiction illnesses, utilizing Recovery Principles.
  • Work collaboratively with multiple services, including crisis support programs and mental health teams.
  • Travel within the counties of Grey and Bruce as required.
  • Assist clients and colleagues in achieving positive outcomes in a safe and therapeutic environment.
Qualifications
  • Current Ontario College of Nurses registration or eligibility.
  • Certificate in Psychiatric Nursing from a recognized Community College.
  • Recent psychiatric nursing experience within the past three years.
  • Working knowledge of Mental Health Act, Substitute Decision Makers Act, HCCA, and the DSM-IV-R.
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct psychosocial and psychiatric assessments, including risk assessments.
  • Knowledge of community resources and navigation of the broader mental health system.
  • Ability to think critically and respond effectively to emergent situations.
  • Valid CPI course.
  • Experience in medication delivery.
  • Excellent leadership, problem-solving, decision-making, organizational, and patient assessment skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work cooperatively within a multi-disciplinary team setting.
  • Ability to work all shifts, weekends, and holidays.
  • Commitment to continuing education.
  • Recent satisfactory performance and attendance records.
  • Adherence to Brightshores' CARE Behaviours and LEAD Competencies.
