Pharmacy Technician Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Pharmacy Technician to join our team at BC Cancer. As a Pharmacy Technician, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe and effective management of medications for our patients.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Process and prepare medication orders for distribution to patients, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  • Verify prescriptions and ensure that they are complete and authentic, performing duties such as verifying allergy status and demographics.
  • Prepare and process prescriptions by entering orders, counting, measuring, packaging or re-packaging medications and compounding sterile pharmaceutical products, including hazardous drugs.
  • Ensure the accuracy and completeness of dispensed prescriptions by verifying order entries and performing final checks.
  • Enter and ensure the accuracy and completeness of drug and personal health information in the pharmacy information system.
Requirements:
  • Current registration as a Pharmacy Technician with the College of Pharmacists of British Columbia.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact positively with staff and physicians.
  • Organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position and operate related equipment.
  • Strong keyboard skills and familiarity with computer systems.
  • Awareness of and commitment to learning and understanding the Truth & Reconciliation Commission's 94 Calls to Action and other related reports.
