Your primary responsibilities will include:- Conducting reviews of various personal tax, review, and compilation engagements, ensuring all tax-related matters are thoroughly addressed prior to submission.
- Overseeing complex Canadian individual and corporate tax returns, along with other tax-related work prepared by staff.
- Evaluating and approving technical research and tax planning recommendations for private enterprises.
- Delivering high-quality tax planning, services, and expert advice.
- Collaborating closely with Partners and senior staff on business tax compliance, tax provisions, and advisory engagements.
- Leading specialized tax engagements.
- Building and managing senior-level client relationships while identifying service opportunities.
- Providing ongoing support, coaching, and development of firm staff regarding tax knowledge and issues.
- Preparing and presenting technical sessions for firm staff.
- Managing engagement financials, including budgets, work in process variances, and billing.
- Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) Designation or equivalent.
- Successful completion of the CPA Canada In-Depth Tax Course or Master of Tax Program.
- 7-10+ years of public accounting experience, particularly in a tax-focused environment.
- High proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams), Caseware, and TaxPrep is considered an asset.
- Exceptional attention to detail and strong project management skills.
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication abilities.
- A strong work ethic with the capacity to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
- An understanding of a client-focused, fast-paced work environment, with the ability to effectively pivot between tasks, prioritize, and manage deliverables to meet conflicting deadlines.
- Experience with owner-managed businesses is considered an asset.
