Job Summary:
First Student is seeking a Red Seal Licensed Mechanic to join our team in Winnipeg, MB. You will also provide guidance to Apprentice Mechanics and contribute to the overall success of our team.

About the Role:
As a Licensed Mechanic with First Student, you will be responsible for diagnosing and performing all phases of vehicle and equipment repair under minimal supervision. You will remove, overhaul, and reinstall mechanical components, lead preventative maintenance and safety inspections, and ensure work orders are completed properly and accurately. You will also notify your supervisor of potentially dangerous equipment and take corrective action. Additionally, you will lead road calls and emergency services as necessary and adhere to First Student standards, policies, and procedures.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Diagnose and repair vehicle and equipment issues, including brakes, engine tune-ups, suspensions, drive trains, transmission clutches, and other repairs.
  • Remove, overhaul, and reinstall mechanical components, including brakes, engines, and transmissions.
  • Lead preventative maintenance and safety inspections to ensure vehicle readiness and safety.
  • Ensure work orders are completed properly and accurately, including maintaining records of all maintenance work completed.
  • Notify supervisor of potentially dangerous equipment and take corrective action.
  • Lead road calls and emergency services as necessary.
  • Adhere to First Student standards, policies, and procedures.

Requirements:
  • Red Seal Mechanic license.
  • Valid driver's license required.
  • Appropriate mechanic's tool set.
  • Advanced problem-solving ability.
  • Advanced computer skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to work assigned shift.
