At St Marys Cement Canada, we are seeking a highly skilled Senior Tax Analyst to join our team. As a key member of our tax department, you will play a critical role in ensuring compliance with Canadian corporate tax filings and assisting with tax audits.
Key Responsibilities:- Analyze sales tax accounts and prepare working papers to support monthly/quarterly/annual Canadian sales tax returns, ensuring compliance with sales tax returns filing.
- Prepare monthly/quarterly tax provisions and journal entries, including tax account reconciliations, true-ups adjustments, and facilitating legal entity tax installment calculations.
- Assist with the preparation of Canadian income tax returns, including T106 and T1134.
- Assist with the preparation of transfer pricing contemporaneous documentation, including the development and implementation of transfer pricing strategies.
- Monitor and research developments in IFRS and tax legislative changes, forecasting their impact on Canadian and US entities.
- Manage direct and indirect tax audits and liaise with Canadian tax authorities.
- Research and analyze tax issues and questions from various business operation units.
- Participate in ad-hoc projects to provide tax inputs as needed.
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Tax, or Finance.
- Professional accounting designation (CPA) or close to completion.
- 4+ years of Canadian corporate tax experience.
- Proficiency with computer software, including Corporate Taxprep, Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Experience working within an IFRS environment.
- Sound business and finance knowledge and judgment.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to handle multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Proven problem-solving capabilities and an excellent attention to detail.
- Aptitude to work both independently and as a team member in a dynamic environment.
- Self-motivated person who takes initiative and ownership to improve tax-related processes and procedures.
