Container Grower

About the Job

As the Container Grower at Sheridan Nurseries, you will oversee crops and team members within your assigned section to meet production timelines and sales forecast targets. You will maintain the general upkeep and standards of excellence for all plant material within your section.

Key Responsibilities:

• Monitor growing areas and crops daily, supervising all activities within your section.
• Implement and maintain the Integrated Pest Management program.
• Investigate and address crop-related issues, working with the Crop Health team as needed.
• Adjust nutritional programs based on testing results.
• Ensure proper irrigation of assigned crops.
• Plan and manage crop activities throughout the growing cycle.
• Train staff to perform efficiently and effectively to company standards.
• Prepare daily work plans for section team members.
• Provide timely data and maintain growing records.
• Meet production timelines and sales forecast targets.
• Promote a safe and healthy working environment.

Requirements:

• Must be eligible to work in Canada and hold a full G driver's license.
• Minimum 2-3 years of full crop responsibility experience.
• Outdoor ornamental growing experience is an asset.
• Must have or be willing to obtain a Grower pesticide applicators license.
• First Aid certificate is required.
• Effective communication, organization, and leadership skills.
• Ability to problem solve and make decisions with attention to detail.
• Resourceful and able to work independently while supervising a crew.
• Ability to adapt and prioritize multiple tasks and situations with effective time management skills.
• Experience with MS Office Suite programs, including Word, Outlook, and Excel.
• Highly value honesty, integrity, and authenticity.
• Flexibility to work outdoors for various shifts, including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Ability to lift 50lbs and work in different weather conditions and environments.
