Job Summary

The Director of Pharmacy Business Development will play a key role in driving business growth and market share for McKesson's Retail Banner. Reporting directly to the Senior Director of Business Development, this individual will leverage their negotiation skills and industry knowledge to develop and implement business strategies that preserve and increase market share and store count.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead startup projects by identifying potential sites, building a business case, and collaborating with finance, legal, operations, and store design & planning teams.
  • Assess new potential opportunities and present business cases to executives for approval.
  • Manage the full transaction process, including buying and selling pharmacies, in collaboration with internal and external partners.
  • Approach new prospects, leverage networks, and sell the value proposition of McKesson's Retail Banners.
  • Participate in industry events to identify new clients, promote the Retail Banners, and monitor market trends.
  • Conduct regular competitive market analysis to adapt offers and remain competitive.
  • Maintain and develop strong business relationships with executive stakeholders, including banking agents, accounting firms, real estate brokers, and lawyers.
  • Promote brand image and standards to maintain a strong brand presence in the market and member engagement.

Requirements

  • College degree in administration, finance, or management, or a combination of relevant education and experience.
  • 5+ years of sales or business development experience in the pharmaceutical or related field.
  • Valid Canadian Driver's License.

Competencies

  • Strong background in negotiation, territory management, and networking.
  • Understanding of the pharmaceutical industry is an asset.
  • Good understanding of the retail pharmacy business model and its relation to profitability is considered an asset.
