The University of Ottawa seeks a qualified candidate to teach a course on pain management and therapeutic modalities in the School of Rehabilitation Sciences. The course aims to provide a comprehensive understanding of pain phenomena, its multiple dimensions, and the latest treatment approaches.

Course Outline:

  • Introduction to pain and its dimensions
  • Pain types, incidence, and prevalence of chronic syndromes
  • Anatomical and physiological bases
  • Pain neuromodulation
  • Psychological dimensions, placebo, and nocebo effects
  • Principles of evaluation, measurement scales, and questionnaires
  • Pharmacological, psychological, and physical intervention principles
  • Introduction to therapeutic modalities and physical agents in physiotherapy
  • Indications and contraindications
  • Principles of clinical practice application

Requirements:

The ideal candidate should have a strong educational background and/or experience in pain management and therapeutic modalities. An acceptable level of education and/or experience could be viewed as being equivalent to the educational requirements and/or demonstrated experience.
