About the RoleThe successful candidate will lead the City's strategic approach to engaging with the business community and all levels of government to support the growth and diversity of the City. This includes developing and executing an action plan to implement the City's comprehensive economic development strategy, creating and bringing high-value jobs and new business opportunities to Surrey.
Key Responsibilities- Lead and manage a team of professionals to develop and implement strategic plans for business and government relations.
- Develop and execute a proactive approach to inter-governmental and indigenous relations, including the production and implementation of rigorous goal-oriented strategic and project plans.
- Establish and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including government representatives, business leaders, and Indigenous organizations.
- Provide strategic advice and support to the General Manager, Social Infrastructure and Community Investments, and other City departments.
- Build and maintain a registry of Provincial and Federal Government funding programs and assist City departments in securing funding for eligible projects.
- Track and report on emerging trends and policy developments at various levels of government and Indigenous organizations.
- Develop and maintain relationships with business improvement associations, boards of trade, and other organizations to promote and facilitate the City's development.
The successful candidate will have a post-secondary degree (preferably at a Master's level) in a related field and 10+ years of progressively responsible professional experience related to government relations, economic development, and strategic program development.
