Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Gas Compression Service Technician to join our team at Propak Energy Services. As a senior technician, you will be responsible for providing top-notch service, maintenance, and repair work on gas compressors and engines in gas plants and adjacent field facilities.

About the Role

  • Provide expert-level technical support for gas compression packages, including panels, controls, instrumentation, and package operation
  • Interpret flow sheets and drawings to optimize equipment run times and diagnose problems
  • Demonstrate a deep understanding of mounting and alignment, commissioning, package operations, mechanical components, instrumentation, and electronics
  • Perform startups, servicing, repairs, overhauls, warranty work, and other tasks independently in remote locations
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot engine compressor problems, providing recommendations to the Service Coordinator and clients
  • Verify all proper settings and adjustments, including alignment, pull downs, rod run out, ESM, fuel gas pressure and settings, crankcase pressure, flange torquing, cooler checks, etc.
  • Judge priorities on unit repairs based on downtime, customer importance, potential losses, and efficient working methods
  • Provide exceptional customer service, responding to client needs and concerns in a timely manner
  • Maintain accurate documentation of mechanical services, labor time entry, expenses, parts orders, and other relevant information
  • Complete and submit paperwork related to startups, servicing, warranty work, and other tasks
  • Provide guidance and direction to apprentice mechanics, promoting knowledge sharing and skill development
  • Order necessary parts and materials to ensure efficient job completion

About You

  • You hold a Journeyman Millwright or Heavy Duty Mechanic certification
  • You have 3+ years of experience with Waukesha, Caterpillar, and natural gas driven compression
  • You possess excellent customer service skills, administration, communication, and organizational abilities
  • You can prioritize tasks effectively, managing multiple projects simultaneously
  • You have flexibility to work in remote locations without supervision, often traveling overnight (25-50% of the time)
  • New package commissioning experience is an asset, as is proficiency in Microsoft Office
