As a key member of our Data Engineering Team, you will be responsible for the performance, availability, security, and recovery of our local and cloud-based solutions for data storage, management, and retrieval.
Key Responsibilities- Database Management: Plan, build, and maintain cloud-based, relational and unstructured, high availability, and high-quality database management systems and warehouses with a strong emphasis on SQL Managed Instances and on-premises SQL servers.
- Data Pipelines: Develop and manage Azure Data Factories, creating and optimizing data pipelines for efficient ETL processes and data ingestion from external sources.
- Security and Performance: Implement continuous security, performance, and issues monitoring processes across all data platforms and recommend, develop, and implement preventative actions.
- High Availability and Disaster Recovery: Plan, maintain, and regularly test high availability and disaster recovery architecture, particularly for SQL Managed Instances.
- Collaboration: Collaborate with Data Engineers to ensure the effective implementation and maintenance of standards, tools, and processes for data management and ETL.
- Resource Management: Balance resources and scheduling to maintain and improve database and process performance within established resource limits.
- Automation: Automate repetitive database tasks and develop centralized monitoring of all database environments and processes.
- Agile Process: Engage in all aspects of the Agile process, proactively contributing to improvements to minimize rework/waste and increase quality and velocity.
- Technical Expertise: Stay abreast of software industry best practices, processes, and technologies, and actively encourage their adoption within the Sprint Team and LGM.
- Continuous Improvement: Champion continuous improvement to facilitate and ensure the modernization of LGM's data systems.
- Database Management: Strong database management skills in a SQL Server cloud database environment, with extensive experience with Azure SQL Managed Instances.
- T-SQL Scripting: Extensive and proven T-SQL scripting skills.
- Powershell: Experience using PowerShell in Azure and manage certain data administration tasks.
- High Availability: Experience with always-on high availability technology.
- Cloud Infrastructure: Good knowledge of IaaS, SaaS, and PaaS.
- Azure Data Factories: Proficiency in managing and optimizing Azure Data Factories and developing data pipelines.
- Unstructured Data Management: Demonstrated working knowledge of unstructured data management principles.
- Cloud Infrastructure: Experience with cloud infrastructure.
- Azure Resources: Experience managing Azure resources is a plus.
- Database Monitoring: Experience monitoring database instances.
Minimum of 5 years' experience in a DBA role.
