The Royal Bank of Canada seeks a seasoned professional to lead our technology policy initiatives, driving strategic innovation and collaboration with key stakeholders.

About the Role

We are looking for an expert in tech policy development, technology innovation, and related areas to join our team as a Director of Strategic Innovation and Policy. This role is based in Toronto and requires a strong understanding of AI, tech disruption, regulations, and policy issues. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 10 years of experience in tech policy development, technology innovation, or related fields. Strong skills and experience building and maintaining relationships with external stakeholders are essential. Additionally, the ability to work across multiple internal teams and collaborate with cross-functional teams is required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead research, policy analysis, and insights by engaging with industry groups, governments, clients, and other key stakeholders.">
  • Provide strategic guidance and briefing material on AI/technology-related opportunities, trends, regulation, Canada's competitiveness, risks, emerging technology, etc.">
  • Serve as a thought leader on AI policy matters at conferences, seminars, and industry events.">
  • Integrate RBC Disruptors podcast and platform into broader innovation strategy.">
  • Develop and execute stakeholder engagement strategy, including managing existing and developing new partnerships (e.g., roundtables, events, etc.).">
  • Stay abreast of emerging AI technologies, trends, and regulations to anticipate potential impacts on business operations.">

Requirements

To succeed in this role, you must have a deep understanding of AI, tech disruption, regulations, policy issues, and the ability to build and maintain relationships with external stakeholders. A minimum of 10 years of experience in tech policy development, technology innovation, or related areas is required. Strong skills in budgeting, business analytics, business process design, conflict management, effectiveness measurement, group problem-solving, industry knowledge, interpersonal relationships, oral communications, research and development operations are also necessary.
