About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and skilled Physician Assistant to join our team in providing high-quality patient care in a community primary care setting.

Job Summary

The successful candidate will work under the supervision of an Attending Physician, providing medical services to patients in a variety of settings, including urgent care and primary care clinics. The ideal candidate will possess strong clinical skills, excellent communication abilities, and a passion for delivering exceptional patient care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide high-quality patient care in accordance with established protocols and guidelines;
  • Work collaboratively with healthcare teams to deliver comprehensive patient care;
  • Conduct thorough medical histories and physical examinations;
  • Diagnose and manage common medical conditions, including acute and chronic illnesses;
  • Order and interpret diagnostic tests, such as laboratory results and imaging studies;
  • Develop and implement treatment plans, including prescribing medications and ordering therapies;
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and other healthcare professionals;
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and contribute to the development of policies and procedures.
Requirements
  • Candidate must be eligible for registration with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of British Columbia (CPSBC) in the Associate Physician – Community class, under sponsorship of Northern Health;
  • Must meet the CPSBC's English language proficiency requirements;
  • Must hold Canadian Citizenship, be a permanent resident, or be legally able to live and work in British Columbia;
  • Successful completion of a recognized physician assistant program;
  • Minimum 2 years of experience working as a physician assistant in a similar role;
  • Current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS);
  • Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and pharmacology;
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills;
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team;
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and deadlines.

Northern Health offers a competitive salary range of $80,000 - $120,000 per annum, depending on experience. In addition to the salary, we also offer a comprehensive benefits package, including:

Location

This position is located in Prince George, BC, and requires regular travel to various locations within the region. Candidates must have a valid driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle.
