About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director General to join our team at Aitchison School of Canada Inc. As a key member of our leadership team, you will play a critical role in shaping the strategic direction of our organization and driving our mission forward.

Key Responsibilities
  • Leadership and Management
    • Provide strategic leadership and direction to the organization, ensuring alignment with our mission and vision.
    • Oversee the development and implementation of organizational policies and programs.
    • Authorize and organize the establishment of major departments and associated senior staff positions.
  • Operational Management
    • Co-ordinate the work of regions, divisions or departments.
    • Establish financial and administrative controls.
    • Formulate and approve promotional campaigns.
    • Approve overall human resources planning.
  • Representation and Communication
    • Represent the organization, or delegate representatives to act on behalf of the organization, in negotiations or other official functions.
    • Select middle managers, directors or other executive staff; delegate the necessary authority to them and create optimum working conditions.
  • Supervision and Development
    • Supervise a team of 5-10 people.
    • Develop and implement training programs to enhance the skills and knowledge of staff.
  • Computer and Technology Knowledge
    • Proficient in MS Access, MS Excel, MS Office, MS Outlook, MS PowerPoint, MS Windows, and MS Word.
  • Personal Suitability
    • Accurate and efficient in all aspects of work.
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
    • Flexibility and adaptability in a fast-paced environment.

  • Experience and Qualifications
    • 3 years to less than 5 years of experience in a senior leadership role.
    • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.

    • Recruits and provides support to newcomers and refugees.
    • Provides diversity and cross-cultural training to create a welcoming work environment.
    • Participates in government or community programs that support youth employment.

    • Offers mentorship, coaching, and networking opportunities for Indigenous workers.
    • Develops and maintains relationships with indigenous communities and organizations.
    • Provides cultural competency training and awareness training to all employees.
    • Facilitates access to Elders who can offer support and guidance to Indigenous workers.
    • Participates in government or community programs that support mature workers.
    • Participates in government or community programs that support visible minorities.
    • Applies hiring policies that discourage discrimination against visible minorities.
    • Offers mentorship programs that pair visible minorities with experienced employees.
    • Provides diversity and cross-cultural training to create a welcoming work environment for visible minorities.
